She smiles with perfection

Image
She smiles with perfection, like the star; Of happy bright lights adorning the sky, A reflection of all beauties both near and far; So adorable her looks, wantonly high; Her smile I match not, mine a musky tar, Only goddesses have those, a beauteous eyes.  And on the cheek, and o’er that lips, A joyous stream flows, radiating like the sun. So serene so pure, captivating to a grip; So divine, so bright, charming to a stun, The smile softly beckons and all hearts skipped, Deeper in love, what a smile has done. On her face erupts with the brightest smile, Like the daffodils blossom in spring time, A reminder of the solemn moment on the aisle, Creates in me a symphony and a rhyme, Shrinking Lagos traffic to less a mile, Howbeit it took me such a while, Gafar Odubote, “She Smiles with Perfection”, copyright 2019

If Eternity Never Comes

Image
Lost like a feather in desert wind, Till I found my symphony in thy eyes, With those wild smiles I found my way home; Into thine arms, in love I rise; For if this day end before eternity; Or If eternity never comes with thy sparks; I will hold the sun and delve into immortality; To remain by thy side beyond the tides and darks; For if this day end before eternity; One moment again I will ask every night; With thee... O’ only with thee; Before I melt away like a candle in the light; Gafar Olorunleke Odubote, “If Eternity Never Comes” : A poem for Agbeke - my Wife, copyright 2018

Aderonke

Image
A beauty I beheld on a secluded street, Where the foundation of the first church was laid, The sepulchre of kingship stood in its midst, The fairies at night hovers at its lake, Within its core stood the throne of the first, Where the queen of the stars found its rest, The key to her abode was in the oblivion of the tide, Only the spirit that follows the season can be a guide, Aderonke the heir of the southern god, A seraph that dwells before the Elysian Lord, Thy crown was forged with jasper and dragon breath, Thou the embodiment of beauty and unfettered strength, The quest was like the stars those three wise men seek, The path to thy footstool only reveals to the strong but meek, There are fallen angels like Herod on this pathway to truth, Conquer the principalities with the sonority from thy flute, Let the stars guide thee to the cave of keys, At its epicentre thou will see the traces of its  glimpse, Be weary of its keeper they st...

Ethereal Wife

Image
So witty a wife, Nostalgic from time past; Like perfectly a sun to life, Thou completely fits my heart; An awesomeness like no other; The virtuous being of its kind, Thy beauty I enviously ponder, How it ruthlessly conquered my mind , Who dare traverse with thee ? Only the bravest, strong and fast; A woman warrior have ever seen, Thou remain a fountain to last .. To last forever and a day A day into eternity, Even if my breath with me should fail; It would wake me with thee in immortality ; ( Poem: “Ethereal Wife” by Olorunleke Odubote )

A toast to Gaffy

Image
A toast to gaffystone, The husband like a strength of Lion, Thy voice like the note of saxophone, Wantonly with thy touch I fly to Zion, Thou with thy sparkles ignited my ion; The lion of my tribe I hail thee, An Odubote warrior of decent breed, A jewel thou made only for thy eye to see; Thou enthroned and planted in me thy seed.. With gladness I took it and for more I plead; O’ Gaffy I lean on thy sceptre, Ogolicious Ogo the tamer of the tempest, Thou that break lose all holds and fetters, Gleefully with thy fingers, thou the bestest.. Am very glad to be thy empress. Olorunleke thou a sunlight to Agbeke world, Thou a sage with ethereal brilliancy that’s rare.. For thy creation, I praise the mighty God, I appreciate thy resiliency and care; Always glad to have you here and near. (Poem: “A Toast to gaffy” by Agbeke)

Agbeke: a dream come true

Image
On a day when the sky was blue  A little shower with a blossom bliss  My little charming queen came anew  Born to life with a gentle ease  It was a Saturday in January  From an aperture: I saw the sky  In the distance: I saw the sanctuary  My darling Agbeke born a star  It took me awhile like a race  More than a decade and some years  Before mercy brought again your face  Now a worry heart has no fears  Agbeke: a dream come true  An angel I saw at the heaven's gate  When the sky was pure and blue  Giving hope to my joyous little faith  Her voice like the softest timbre  Her smiles like a tender child  Her body like an idol from a timber  Her presence can calm a turbulent tide...  Agbeke: a dream come true  My sunshine, my partner thou hath  I met you, i became fresh and new  Giving life and love to my able heart...

My Smiling One

Image
Agbeke when I met you  I felt something new,  The love is so true  Like a fresh morning dew;  When I asked you out  You asked me why you,  Words ceased from my mouth,  Ladies of your likes are quite few;  You are the smiling one  Peaceful and beautiful  You are the charming one  So pretty and wonderful  We spent times together  We play, pray and all the likes,  You promised 2stay forever  Even tho we argued and the likes  I love my smiling one  You are lovely and sweet  With such a beautiful soul  You are amazing and cute  Poem: “My Smiling One” by Olorunleke Odubote

When i got the Yes

Image
It was on a Saturday,  The first one In 2014 December, I can't wait for another day; This has to be a moment to remember  "The sunshine of my life  Tender your beauty strive  I'll love you forever I swear  A cultured woman I found so rare" I woke fresh and strong, Even after a long night of partying  Kept pondering, what if am wrong; And she said no after so much worrying ! "I bless the day we met  On timmy street on earth  I bless the day you said YES  You were beautiful in your satin dress" I picked up the ring Pondering how best it would fit, Should I propose with a string? While I kneel at her feet... "The sunshine of my life  Can you be my blessed wife?  Hand-in-hand to the aisle  Joyously to a wedding dine" I called and told her to visit, So we could take cream at the Coldstone; After persuasion, with yes but a limit, Not tasting, while I hid the c...

Agbeke Ogo

Image
My Lady Agbeke Ogo My beautiful Agbeke , Have told you countless of times, That you are the only Olori I love , My clansmen are full of envy, Of how lucky I am; Even those isokan brothers; wondered why an Angel can love a thug like me!! Thunderstorms or the Snowflakes..  Don't worry, you have me; Pleasure times, earthly-quakes, Just don't mince, am ready . You don't have to call, I can feel your heartbeat; You can never fall, Don't fret, am your superman; Have told you countless of times, That I love you more than you know; Even before I said those lines, Have been loving you from the womb. It's the 12th day after our anniversary; Almost the 12th hour after you said "I do" Now I recall the victory over thy adversary; When I gallantly won you from their piercing fangs. Agbeke let me sing you this song, With the strings I will play all night long, Which I read from an ethereal parchment...
